Cabo Polonio - view
This small village, on the Uruguayan coast, is a very special place in the world. Isolated from the rest of society and separated 7 km from the main highway by stunning forests and sand dunes, there is no electricity or running water for the few hundred houses that are there. Wind power and a few generators are used to power some community buildings and residents obtain water from nearby wells or collecting rainwater. The population is composed of a few hundred craftspeople and fishermen who live a secluded life away from the trials and tribulations of the rest of the world.
My time there was mystical; creative; tranquil; eye opening; secret and magnetic.
